Do you know how to give up?
No one teaches us how to give up
We are taught how to behave
Perhaps by our parents
We are taught how to let go
We are taught how to escape
Perhaps by our friends
We are in fact taught several anti-social methods
But we are not taught how to give up
Yet, somehow we are told to give up
Told that our dreams and life and ambitions are spirals
Falling inwards, stumbling on itself
That giving up is the only ideal world
Yes it is perhaps the best way to give up
Rather than chase pavements (they lead nowhere)
But I dare say I do not know how
Giving up is hard
Sometimes people frown upon giving up
And so it is never taught
On this wall, looking for a rope to pull me onto either side
I ask you, do you know how to give up?
Do you know what happens after giving up?
Is it even possible to give up?
Doesn't life follow death follow life?
Does the spark linger waiting to shoot you across the wall once again?
We are not taught how to give up
It's probably for the best.
What is - giving up or not?
