Why Is There A Clutch?

I do not understand cars. I mean...could you not do away with the clutch (do not ask me an alternative as that is for those lab-experimenting-scientists to decide! And of course a car should be automatic...I do not believe a driver has the time to get distracted from the could-be-fatal road and instead concentrate upon the should-be-done-away-with-clutch!

As a young (illegal, but do not tell anyone that) driver, I am a little frightened of driving on the road! There are people who drive like maniacs (apologies for the harsh word) and even if they do not get into accidents, there are very high chances, that a minor, who has just learned how to handle the brakes is in fatal danger! Not only are other drivers inconsiderate, but also rash! However, this is not about an analysis of the worsening standards of "The Indian Driver" but more about how a car is one of the most complex inventions of mankind (after the subject of Mathematics that is!) A car is not consumer-friendly! There are a dozen things that you have to do to try and make it move (its fundamental function) Why can it not quite simply start if you press a certain button, why does the key have to be inserted, pushed inside, turned and then other processes that have to be followed for the car to perform its basic utility!

My dream car would be one, where the helpless driver does not have to press a clutch or change gears, it quite simply might be the accelerator and the brake! Of course, a whole world of people might disagree, but that will be wonderful, since disagreement is the root cause of agreement! Je n'aime pas les voitures!

  1. Your dream car has been invented. It's called an automatic.
